We are Milly and John. We started our food truck in 2017, then switched to operating a home kitchen due to #covid19, and have now partnered with a dreamy venue in Windsor which is due to launch in August 2021!

Our dream has always been to open our very own neighbourhood restaurant & cocktail bar, and we’re on track to do just that.

At Test Kitchen we are proud to use fresh, locally sourced and seasonal ingredients to create delicious dishes for our customers. We are lucky enough to be based in Windsor amongst some of England’s finest farms, and we buy from these local suppliers as often as possible. Our meat is always from the Royal Farms, where we have an excellent relationship with Tony the head butcher, aka “King Boss”.

Test Kitchen

noun

a kitchen used for the process of developing new kinds of food.

A “Test Kitchen” is a place where a chef’s most creative ideas and techniques are put to trial before being added to the final menu.

We buy locally when possible and with seasonality of produce always at the forefront of our mind, our menus are eclectic and ever-changing in order to adapt to what ingredients are at their very best each month!

We change our take-out menus frequently, so it’s always worth a peek at our Facebook page to see what’s cooking.

The Team

Milly and John met in London. John would stop by the nightclub Milly managed, after working long shifts in a busy restaurant.  Both sharing a passion for food, they always thought it would be great to run a food truck together. Following the arrival of baby Salvador they upped sticks and returned to Windsor where Milly had grown up, bringing their dream with them.

When the pandemic hit, Test Kitchen found itself navigating a series of pivots in order to keep their little business afloat. They ran weekly Cookalongs, served take-outs nightly and created bespoke menus for heartbroken lovebirds to celebrate their would’ve-been-wedding-day’s.

Emerging from the lockdown with an ignited passion, Test Kitchen gave their beloved food truck to friends at the start of their own foodie journey, and formed a partnership with Patch On the Plaza.

John

John has been a professional chef for over a decade and is the most passionate foodie you’ll meet! He’s classically trained, is of Portuguese heritage and has also lived in Spain so you’ll taste a wide variety of new dishes and flavours with each menu.

Milly

Milly’s passion for cooking started from a very young age. Her Chinese-Malaysian mother taught her many traditional recipes and she has always loved to cook for friends and family. She moved to London in 2008 and managed some very swanky nightclubs, hip cocktail bars and restaurants. Since moving back to Windsor, after swapping late nights for early mornings following the birth of baby Salvador, Milly had great success running a supperclub from their home dining room.

Salvador

Salvador is his father’s son. He enjoys a trip to the fishmonger, and shows more excitement than you might expect from a 5-year old. He always seems to go for a whole river trout, and can polish off the entire thing in one sitting. No mean feat!
